What is Dubai chocolate?

A milk chocolate bar with a green pistachio filling and threads of kadayif, the fine shredded pastry used in künefe and baklava, which gives the filling its crunch. The style was created in Dubai in 2021 and spread worldwide in 2024. This bar is made in Türkiye, where kadayif comes from.

Milk chocolate (55%) [whole milk powder, cocoa butter, sugar, cocoa mass, sweetener (maltitol), ghee (dairy product), emulsifiers (sunflower lecithin, polyglycerol polyricinoleate)], cocoa solids min. 38.2%. Pistachio & kadayif filling (45%) [pistachios 30%, vegetable oil (sunflower, palm), sugar, skimmed milk powder, demineralized whey powder, kadayif 5% (wheat flour), maltodextrin, tahini (sesame), emulsifier (sunflower lecithin), flavouring (vanillin)].

Is this made in Dubai?
No. Barlo Dubai Chocolate is made in Türkiye and imported to Canada by Chef Ceber of Maple, Ontario. "Dubai chocolate" names the style: milk chocolate filled with pistachio and kadayif.

Is it halal or kosher?
Yes. The importer, Chef Ceber, states that the bar is halal and kosher certified, and the ingredient list contains no alcohol and no gelatin.

How much pistachio is in the bar?
The filling is 45% of the bar and is 30% pistachio, so about 13.5% of the bar is pistachio.

What is kadayif?
Finely shredded pastry dough, also spelled kataifi, used in künefe and baklava. It is 5% of the filling and gives the crunch.

How long does it keep?
The shelf life is 540 days from production. Current stock is best before 13 January 2028. Keep it cool and dry.

Will it melt in shipping?
Chocolate is sensitive to heat. In the cooler months it travels well. If you are ordering in summer, choose an address where someone can bring the parcel inside on delivery day.
