Afghan Dried Fruits & Nuts

Dried fruits and nuts from Afghanistan
This collection gathers every dried fruit and nut we sell that comes from Afghanistan — the dried fruit and nuts served with green tea in Afghan homes and set out for guests at Nowruz, Eid and weddings. It includes royal Mamra almonds, wild chilgoza pine nuts, Kandahar green raisins (kishmish), Ghazni red raisins, white and black mulberries (toot), unsulphured apricots and chapaneemak, in sizes from 250g up to 10kg.
What's from Afghanistan, and where
- Mamra almonds — the “royal almond”, a small, dense Afghan variety with a rich, buttery flavour. Raw, and shipped free at every size.
- Roasted in-shell Mamra almonds — Mamra badam, roasted in the shell.
- Chilgoza — wild pine nuts (Pinus gerardiana) from the mountain forests of eastern Afghanistan.
- Green raisins (kishmish) — shade-dried, from Kandahar.
- Red raisins — from Ghazni.
- White mulberries and black mulberries — sun-dried toot.
- Dried apricots and chapaneemak — unsulphured Afghan apricots.
Also from Afghanistan: our Grade I Negin saffron from Herat.
Haft mewa for Nowruz
Haft mewa (“seven fruits”) is the Afghan Nowruz dish of dried fruits and nuts soaked in water until the liquid turns sweet. Green and red raisins, dried apricots and almonds are classic ingredients, and all of them are in this collection.
